Homemade Nacho Fries: Crispy, Spicy, and Cheesy Goodness

Ingredients:

For the fries:
4 large russet potatoes, peeled and cut into fries
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Salt and pepper, to taste

For the cheese sauce:
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup milk (whole milk or 2%)
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
Salt, to taste.

Optional Toppings:
Jalapeño slices
Sour cream
Guacamole
Chopped tomatoes
Green onions

Instructions:

  1. Plan the Fries:
    Preheat your stove to 425°F (220°C).
    Toss the cut potatoes in olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, chili powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
    Arrange the fries on a heating sheet in a single layer.
    Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping midway through, until fresh and brilliant brown.
  1. Make the Cheese Sauce:
    In a little pan over medium warm, soften the butter.
    Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to shape a roux.
    Gradually include drain whereas whisking continually to dodge lumps.
    Add the destroyed cheese, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder, and blend until the cheese is softened and smooth.
    Season with salt to taste. Evacuate from heat.
  1. Amass the Nacho Fries:
    Drizzle the warm cheese sauce over the prepared fries.
    Add your favorite fixings like jalapeños, acrid cream, guacamole, or tomatoes.
    Serve immediately.
