Hello beauty FANS!!, hope you’re doing well! Here are 10 useful eyeshadow hacks that I’ve been using recently and thoughts I would share! If you’re a beginner in makeup this blog post will help being able to understand eyeshadow better while getting some tips, tricks, and hacks! Let’s get into it!
eye primer
Eye primer is a useful makeup product and essentially prepares the eye for a long-lasting, smooth finish. It also helps with keeping the eyeshadow in place, while preventing creasing. I would say it’s a very useful product for those who love intense eyeshadow looks or those who tend to wear a lot of eyeshadow daily!
learning the basics of makeup brushes, and what they do!
This is going to save you so much time if you know exactly what brush you need for what look you’re doing! This way you won’t be risking the finish of the eyeshadow if you’re using the correct brush. If you’re just begging in makeup don’t worry,
light to dark
Make sure to always keep this in mind when doing eyeshadow. You want to start with lighter eyeshadow and as you go along the eye you can blend the darker colors!
expierment with different eyeshadow types
I know what you may be thinking there’s more?! Well, there certainly is! The next step is to try out different types of eyeshadows to see what works best for you and your needs! I’ll go over them now so you can understand each type too:
Liquid Eyeshadow:
Liquid eyeshadow is the perfect alternative if you want something that’s quick and looks good! A few months ago I gave it a go and purchased a liquid eyeshadow from elf, and surprisingly ended up loving it. The only con was that it’s a bit messy but totally worth it. You can purchase them from companies like E.l.f., Glossier, Rare Beauty, etc!
Cream Eyeshadow:
Cream eyeshadow is up next and these can also work as a base for powder eyeshadow! This type of eyeshadow is also perfect for single color coverage, so it’s perfect if you like simple eyeshadow looks!
Pressed Eyeshadow:
This is one of the most common types of eyeshadow because they are one of the easier ones to blend without making a mess! You’ll commonly see these in eyeshadow palettes.
Loose Eyeshadow:
Loose eyeshadow is where you are going to find the most payoff color-wise, they are very pigmented! The only con is that they can be very hard and tricky to work with.
blending
Blending is key in order to get a perfect, even eyeshadow look! Practice blending eyeshadow and eventually, you’ll be able to blend your eyeshadow like a pro. The goal when blending is to not have the eyeshadow look muddy, harsh, splotchy, or patchy! This trick is going to take a lot of practice but in the end, your eyeshadow will look amazing!
trying out eyeshadow before foundation!
Now, I know how this can seem like common sense but it’s actually one of the most useful makeup tips I’ve discovered. Especially when doing intense, bold eyeshadow looks there inevitably will be fallout and you can risk ruining your base! My tip would be to first do your eyeshadow and when you’re done you can do your base. Plus you won’t be risking messing up your base!
cleaning your
I know you’ve heard this…but if you’ve been putting it off and haven’t cleaned your brushes now’s the time! Leaving them stuffed in your makeup bag over time will collect bacteria and germs that are harmful to your skin, and can cause breakouts. Don’t worry, I actually wrote a blog post on how to clean makeup brushes at home
smaller brushes
While we are on the topic of makeup brushes I wanted to bring up the power of a small eyeshadow brush. They can actually be very useful because they help with applying eyeshadow on the lower lid! You may also love the look it gives your eyes, so try it out!
setting spray
This isn’t necessary but is helpful if you want to make sure your makeup is all locked in place! Make sure to apply setting spray after your mascara so your mascara doesn’t drip.
practice makes perfect
Remember practice makes perfect, so don’t worry if you aren’t amazing at first! I remember when I first started out with eyeshadow my hands would actually move so much and the eyeshadow got all messed up. At first, I was annoyed and upset that I wasn’t professional level, but then again I was 12! Over time, I learned how to keep my hands still and got a lot better at it, but I wanted to share that with you! When experimenting with makeup and especially eyeshadow remember to not compare your first time to someone else’s thousandth! It seems corny, but it’s true you’ll get there with time, practice, and help from this blog and youtube videos!
